Billy Bishop Heritage Day
-An estimated 7000-8000 turnout. (June 1-2 2002)
From biplanes and tri-planes lighting gracefully on the runway,
through the deafening roar of second World War era Harvard training
planes taking off, to modern military CF-18 jets streaking overhead,
there was a big chunk of powered flight's 99-year history and
Canada's role in it on display at the Billy Bishop Regional
Airport. There was also modern and vintage military vehicles
and weapons on display, lectures, performances by Legion and
military bands and tributes to the namesake of the airport and the
event - First World War flying ace Billy Bishop.
